Zoom has now become a verb! Zoom has become the standard for teaching online, online meetings, and even newscasts–it’s everywhere.<\/p>\n

But this robust tool does so much more than you know! Susan Vincentz and I are chatting about 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Zoom.<\/p>\n

Susan is also the course instructor for the brand new Shake Up Learning course, The Zoom Master Class<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

1. Use the Spacebar to Mute\/Unmute<\/span><\/h2>\n

Here’s a quick way to mute or unmute yourself during a Zoom meeting, tap the space bar!<\/p>\n

Easy peasy! You don’t have to use your mouse and navigate over to the microphone icon.<\/p>\n

2. Create Your Own Keyboard Shortcuts<\/span><\/h2>\n

You can view and customize your own keyboard shortcuts in Zoom. There are so many keyboard shortcuts we can’t fit them all on this page. Check out this page to view the shortcuts for Mac, Windows, Linux, and iOS<\/a>, and how to customize in each operating system.<\/p>\n

Here are a few Windows shortcuts to get you started (iOS and Mac are completely different).<\/p>\n

3. Share Audio When Screen Sharing<\/span><\/h3>\n

As a teacher, there are many reasons you may need to share audio with your student participants in Zoom. When you share your screen, you MUST remember to check the “share audio” box. If it is a video clip, be sure to also check the “optimize video” box before you share your screen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sharing audio with shared content<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Start or join a Zoom meeting.<\/li>\n
  2. Click on\u00a0Share Screen\u00a0\"\"\u00a0<\/strong>on the meeting toolbar.<\/li>\n
  3. Select the program or desktop you wish to share.<\/li>\n
  4. Select\u00a0Share Sound\u00a0<\/strong>in the bottom-left corner of the share selection window.<\/li>\n
  5. (Optional)\u00a0Select the down arrow\u00a0\u02c5\u00a0<\/strong>just to the right of the\u00a0Share Sound<\/strong>\u00a0option to view audio options and switch between\u00a0Mono<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Stereo (high fidelity)<\/strong>\u00a0audio options.<\/li>\n
  6. Click on\u00a0Share<\/strong>\u00a0in the bottom-right corner to begin sharing with your device’s audio included.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    • Sharing device audio can also be enabled after you have begun sharing by locating the share toolbar, clicking\u00a0More<\/strong>, then selecting\u00a0Share Sound<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • To switch between mono and stereo sound while sharing, locate the share toolbar, click\u00a0More<\/strong>, then select between\u00a0Mono<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Stereo (high fidelity)<\/strong>\u00a0options under\u00a0Select sharing sound mode.\u00a0
